OzHarvest

For the past few years Dockside Group’s venues and restaurants have been involved in OzHarvest. OzHarvest rescues excess food from our venues and restaurants which would otherwise be discarded. This excess food is distributed to charities supporting the vulnerable and homeless in Sydney. OzHarvest believes that good food should not go to waste. In fact, by distributing it to those in need, they turn excess food into a resource and save thousands of kilograms of food from being dumped as landfill each year. On average, every kilogram of food that OzHarvest rescues will avoid 2 kg of greenhouse (kg CO2-eq) emissions and avoid the consumption of 143 litres of water.

Dockside Group is currently embarking on taking another step forward in minimising our carbon footprint. Dockside Group is partnering with Climate Friendly to offset our greenhouse gas omissions and support the development of clean energy.

Climate FriendlyFrom 1 August 2011, Dockside Group business events clients have the option to offset 50kg of greenhouse gases per attendee at just $1 per attendee.

The carbon credits generated will support the Siam Cement biomass fuel switching project in Thailand. This sustainable project converts waste plant materials instead of fossil fuels, and also funds local community projects such as a mobile health clinic in regional Thailand. Read the fact sheet for more information on the huge environmental and social benefits of this project.

Speak to a Dockside Group sales representative if you wish to purchase Climate Friendly’s greenhouse gases offset credit in support of this project.  To launch this special partnership, when you purchase a day conference, corporate cocktail, corporate lunch or dinner package for your event at L’Aqua and Dockside, Dockside Group will donate $1 per attendee to the Siam Cement Biomass Project on behalf of your organisation*.
